Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
Dads on the logbook! I've just been given the task of welding it up, that's even if we bother now the engines had it, dunno if it's worth it lol

Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
Yeah, 2cv engines are well hard to get hold of. And bits to rebuild them are sooo expensive....
Seriously, you'd bin a car just because of that? That's the easy bit of the rebuild.

Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
Russell beat me to it, as I was going to suggest that oil in the cylinder suggests someone had the sense to put some in there before laying up the engine. I've seen far too many which lock up after they've been put away 'dry'.
A stripped spark plug thread is easily fixed as well...
Btw, does it have rubber engine cowls? Some of the last Dyanes had light flywheels, so the engine number might be more useful in dating it...

Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
In fairness I shouldn't have written that, I was a bit pissed off, but in heinsight, that would be another lesson for me- strip and re-build an engine on my own. Ignore my last post... Blonde moment! Might start tomoz lol and yes ken it does have the plastic cowling, but new engine mount bolts with no washers? And the framework for the boner catch etc only had one bolt, I know the pevious owner pit all the bolts he removed in Tupperware tubs labeled...

Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
red oxide is the dogs bollocks anyway how you applying the wax oil? parafin gun on the end of a compresser works well or either just paint it on with a paint brush

Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
It'll be a gun job, dads got a big ass compressor that used to be used in the bus yard he worked in, the spray gun will go further than using a brush. The only reason I'm using the oxide is because it's another layer protecting the metalwork, and extra skin for the water to try and penetrate.

Re: SCALLY RALLY AZU
Been pottering about today, couldn't be bothered to do too much, I thought I'd tackle a few annoying rust bubbles on the top of one of the rear doors, bit wish I hadnt! Ran out of paper to sand it further, that's the trouble when you keep making more work for yourself! To save any water being absorbed into the filler I've just slapped some krust over the top
