Have to say that those cars didn't exactly inspire anything other than a blank expression there O-N. I'd be more inclined to think of these as heirs to the 2cv "cheap fun" mantle:

Never done Great North, but wouldn't mind. Have done a few other half-marathons though, and did London Marathon in 2009 (painful, and a bit overrun with merchant banker types on a corporate-sponsored ego trip for my liking). I'd like to do another marathon one day, but the memory of the last five miles (plus the time taken up by all that training) keeps putting me off. One day. Maybe.

Smiffy I just did a quick search, there are thousands of similar bargains if you have the time. My point is they are 40k 60k 80k miles in mint condition, and take very little looking after. (Rover excepted) all for the price of a 2cv rotten as a pear.

Imagine you plucked a guy out of a poor country in Africa, slapped £1000 in his hand, and asked him did he want the rusty 2cv or the shiny Honda/Ford/whatever stood before him. "They're all the same price" you'd tell him.

His look of bemusement should tell you all you need to know. That's what I'm getting at. "2cv's values are based on esoterics. Damn! I said esoterics, I've been reading that dictionary again. Anyway I'll shut up about it now...you made me say esoterics.

Granted it's a bit of a granddad car, but I'm fairly certain that the head gasket issue was sorted by Ford (who owned Land Rover, which also used the 1.8 K-Series engine). If somebody did buy a 75/MG-ZT for a good cheap price, they would be able to have this new type gasket fitted and according to different car magazines the 75 was a very well built car and very reliable in all other departments. So with a sorted K-series engine, you should be on to a winner. And to be fair to Rover, the 75 is a far better looking car than the Jaguar S-Type

bonjourno im georges twin ( yes get over it ) tom who is a mechanic for rover specialist and the 75 is based on a bmw, BUT rover ruined it the head gasket still goes ever 60,000 miles ish and the liners go and require new heads or liners ,body control units go in the central console (£300) and the inlet manifold gasket leaks unless has late type gasket, rear to front brake pipes rust and go under the tank so 2 hour job nice n expensive ( our fav) ecu is in the scuttle panel and if the drain pipes arnt modified it floods and floods the ecu cause running faults or new ecu, boot always floods due to boot seals, but hey keeps me in business :D

this is what happens when tom uses my laptop and reads the pages im on, if he reads anyone saying rover could be good he cant take it

Somewhere on here is a "rant" thread, I believe it was called "What annoys you?" or similar but I just can't find it.

So, I'll have a quick rant here and, I'll apologise in advance for offending people which, I'm pretty damn sure I will!

Right, what is it that's annoying me today then? The total inability of so many people on this forum (whos first language is supposedly English) to be able to speak or write English, that's what!

Now, we have a stack of people from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Norway, Argentina and so on that frequent this forum-why is their (yes, their not there) English so much better? Is it beacause they're (yes, they're not there) more concerned about making their posts legible?

Perhaps they use translation pages? I doubt that personally as, if you've used Google translate or similar, it makes bugger all sense when it's done its thing!

I'm really beginning to struggle when I'm trying to read some of the posts on here-to the point now whereby I'm not bothering! I may be missing some interesting threads but, as I don't have 10 minutes to try to decipher each post, I'll take the chance!

Please, think, maybe consult a dictionary occasionally and perhaps, if you're (yes, you're not your) feeling really brave, perhaps you could try and add some capital letters and punctuation?

Yours grumpilly, Spanners-the miserable old bastard!

Please excuse me while I LOL.

(But, I'm completely with you for all the same reasons, I can't spell or do punctuation properly, but even my posts can be understood (usually))

I should just add that my rant isn't just aimed at any one person but, I'm sure the guilty parties can work out who they are...........
