My adaptor plate is 12mm thick, yours looks thicker, 20, 25mm? But it's not a huge difference. Did you measure from the bulkhead seam to the front of the gearbox? Add the thickness of your adaptor to that and see if it's more or less than 467mm, which is what mine is.

In order to fit under the bonnet, the engine can obviously be higher and further back, or lower and further forward. But if it's further forward it'll give you more trouble getting it inside the nearside wing, and be harder to fit the headlamp bar upright in front of the left hand cylinder. Have another look at the first pic from my last post, and at this one too http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/vv22 ... C00228.jpg That was my first attempt at mounting the engine, I moved it back further after seeing the 'clearance' to the wing.

What I did with my downpipes and what I'd recommend you do, is to get hold of a set of originals and cut and reweld them as necessary, you'll need them for the flanges that fit the heads if nothing else. If you need the bends sharper than that you'll be able to find somewhere that will sell basic 90* preformed bends, they're 1 3/4", a very common size.

That was my initial plan, so I guess that's what I'll do then.

The head on mine is slightly further back than in that trial fit of yours.

I notice your engine mounts on that trial pick up on the front cover bolts, I was planning to go on the front holes that appear to be for a 12mm bolt, and the larger holes that seem to be for a 16mm bolt further back.

For the headlamp bar and wing mounts I was going to make something that bolts to the original holes in the chassis for the wings and then mount the ends of the headlamp bar to the wings so that externally it looks standard but the bar terminates before protruding into the engine bay. I've got quite a bit of space under the spoiler to play with things like the wiring (probably on plugs so that it comes off with the wings easily) and mounting the wings.

That's the same as Jeremy, ends up being a straight bar with wing mounts still on... The bottom wing mounts are integral to my bumper

headlamps aint adjustable unless you unbolt them and twiddle them but i have never adjusted them on a standard car anyway

Well, it's been on the road since about July and the chassis is about to breathe it's last. I had it up on the forks today to look at the clutch and was suprised to see how it's taken a right battering to the point where it's torn open in places and fairly bent in others. Ironically, that shit van I bought looks like it needs a chassis too, so It's not like I can make a good car out of the two. I'll keep using it as it is and doing the BMW conversion (as it should fit any chassis) until it's MOT just before the WM (I can see an epic fail occuring there) then I guess I'll have to figure out what's going to happen to it. Shit day really.

I don't know about uber cool, but I have this, but it's got no test or tax on it and it needs work. I don't want to break it for it's chassis though. Would rather buy another chassis, even if it's another Citroen one which I'll destroy again.

Wonder what this van chassis will be like when you get hold of it
