Hmmmm, this just brings back bad memories for me when I ended up at registers in my old Xantia-some lovely lady club member called me a c*nt "Because this event is for 2CVs".

When you say this lady called you a c**t is that actually the whole story , i shouldnt laugh but i've got an image of an angry old woman in an anorak randomely calling a surprised young man in a xantia a c**t :D

I was leaving the site on the Sunday-driving slowly around the perimeter of the field so as not to get in the way and this nutter wondered over, stood in front of the car and started with a tirade of abuse. As a mechanic, I actually quite like swearing but was still rather taken aback by her rant!

I wish I did know who it was as I'd have given her a mouthfull in return by now but, hey ho-life's too bloody short really.

Oh, for the record, Toomany2cvs is right, I have indeed been a bit of a c*nt for years. But these days, I prefer to think of myself as a fat, balding c*nt!

I don't.

Some people do "2cving" for the people, the craic, the fun - and the car is just an excuse. (Well, it's a lot more, but...)

Others do it for the car, and the people are - well, an irrelevance.

Everybody to their own. I just hope that the "scene" (and, inevitably, the scenesters) never moves in.

Where do I start on this

Have had attitude on a few occasions [some quite offensive actually] in the past at Citroen rallies / shows, one particular hard time from a women at a past DS / SM Rally springs to mind - during the hurling of offensive comments I was asked why I was there in my C4 and that apparently My C4 VTS By Loeb isn't a proper Citroen - Hmm OK

I go to many events throughout the year in my C4 and also in my 2CV, I get both positive and negative comments [the later probably because my C4 is tuned / modified].
Just have to laugh at the negative ones unless they have any genuine constructiive comment/s.
If me turning up in my C4 offends / annoys some then I don't care really.

Sometimes going long distance with missus & 3 kids isn't practical or simply takes too long in the 2CV

I personally have respect and love for all Citroen models - thats why I go to all these rallies / shows

Should be glad the likes of me want to go

Jon

If my 2CV is working (and it mostly does  ) then I generally use it to go to meetings, even pub night meetings (mine is often the only 2CV on the pub car-park, but that's good, it means new members can feel confident that they have the right pub and the right night   ).

I chose that option, so one other person is with me ;)

I go to (2cv/a type) meetings because I own one, and it's always nice to meet new people with the same interest as you.
In this way I made new friends, meet new people on a meeting and see some friends I only see at meetings.

I'm not a person that will go to a, for example VW Bug, Fiat 500 meeting with my cars. I don't have another car than the 2cv and the Ami, so if might go, I'll park my car outside the terrain and defo not in the middle of the cars. If I go to a meeting like that, I'll go to check out the cars, because I like them and not to meet new people. Off course, that can happen, but it's not that I´ll have to meet new folks. I also go to Citroen-meetings, tuning shows, or if there was a meeting somewhere on a car park with classis cars then I would go too, maybe with some 2cv friends. Again, just for the cars.

If you often go to f.e. VW Beetle meetings with your 2cv, in my opinion you really should consider to change the car you drive and I surely don't get it to join a club from a complete different car make and type..

And last: why would a person wich ownes a 2cv go to a Worldmeeting in his (non Citroen)lease car and put a 2cv grille on it? Most answers to why are: "It was too far to drive with the 2cv...", Well, 3000 others managed to make it, even from a far away place then you..
I would really be ashamed of myself if I ever did that.

I'm with you there - that's a lousy excuse.

Maybe I ought to try and change my attitude; I absolutely loathe meetings that involve cars standing in fields. Add a few tossers walking round drunk or dressed up in "interesting" clothes (or both) and my misery is complete.

I only go if I need obscure parts or need to look at something, so I usually take either a Volvo estate or a Mercedes Sprinter and leave as quickly as I possibly can. It never really occurred to me that there was fun to be had.

Oh dear, you may upset Rumble602, with that quote

By the way, I've not voted because the option I would click, isn't there.

But Tom, this weekend I could go and see all my 2cv friends in a sprinter van, or I could not go to a 2cv event at all, and therefore won't be supporting it at.

What's worse?

P.S. I doubt I'll be going anyway, so it's a fairly hypothetical question...
