V-shape, how many don't know ;)
Belt looks like it should be that way (alternator, waterpump, powersteeringpump, tensioners etc)..

Its called a serpentine or ribbed belt.
Common on most modern engines, used extensivley on marine 4.3,5.0,5.7,6.2,7.4 and 8.2 liter engines :geek:
They very rarely break, and unlike v belts, dont suffer with wear/stretching problems.

You've got the crank, camshaft, water and power steering pumps on there, plus a couple of tensioners I would imagine. Looks pretty 'ornery.

Well, changing the subject, I’ve spent the last two weeks with my nose stuck in one or other book relating to English grammar and what that’s all about. It’s at times like this when I wish I’d had a decent education, come to think of it I wish I’d had an education, then I’d know all this stuff already. In a way though it’s just swings and roundabouts as although I’ve tended to use ‘the force’ alone when previously constructing a written sentence, at least I was out and about in the world experiencing the stuff to write about.

It turns out that old Obe wan kenobe would have been proud of me after all. Unbeknown to me I had been spotting bad grammar all my life but I didn’t know it. I just thought I was a sarcastic bastard. :roll:

Someone once asked me; “Do you have any photographs of yourself when you were younger?”

I’d say; “Yep - all of ‘em.” Well - I’ve no photo’s of when I’m older have I?

I still know nowt about my participles and pronouns but it’s amazing how you begin to spot mistakes in things, usually news items on CNN;

“A fourteen year old boy has today been imprisoned for 28 years after shooting his teacher between the eyes.” The newsreader said.

“I wonder how long he would have got for shooting him between the toes?" I thought. “And by the way – how’s the teacher?” Surely the point was that the kid was locked up for killing his teacher? So why didn’t they say so?

Ee by gum I think I’m going to enjoy learning good English, it gives me lots of opportunities to be grumpy! :lol:

I doubt the camshaft will be driven from a v belt, I'd have thought that it would be geared like a 2cv or ford v6.

Could be, my VW Vr6 was geared too so that might be the norm.

Seen (excuse my pun) in the window of an optician:-

Eyes examined while you wait

Hope so, I'd hate to leave my eyes there and go off to do the shopping :lol:

The belt on that engine does not drive the camshaft,it would be gear driven. And its not a v belt.(well not in Wales anyway :lol: )
