Would it be different if it were a large business like Tesco? I personally despise big business despite having to use them still, as everybody does really. I fear if it were in a large multi chain store making millions I'd probably have kept schtum, which makes me question my morality. I've no doubt I'd do the same again in a little business, but I don't think I would in a big shop. That's wrong though isn't it? The price is the price, so I should always pay that? or, in the circumstances, is it as clear cut as that?

big superstores, not going to name any, but they tend to rip there suppliers off, but the suppliers rely on there business to keep above board, so they have to do as they say, so in a sense they deserve what they get, we studied it in in business studies,

I know and understand the argument that if you were to steal a 10p item or a £10.00 item the crime is theft, the amount is secondary. That being so, how is it possible for supermarket chains to 'factor in' to their retail prices a percentage to account for shoplifting?

To me that is also stealing. I don't shoplift, but each time I do my shopping the supermarket takes a little extra money off me to get money back as if I had stolen something, how is that moral?

I used to know an Asda manager who instructed his till workers to scan the occasional tin of peas or other small item twice, so even if the customer checked his receipt at home they usually wouldn't waste a phone call or a trip back for the sake of a 13p tin of peas.

Big business is theft in itself, small businesses are more likely to trade fairly that's the difference to me. I wouldn't allow myself to be considered a thief by a thief, if it had of happened in Tesco I wouldn't have told them. F*ck 'em.
