   |   Re: Right names pleaseI've actually found that Footman James have been much better at answering the phone recently. Last time I rang them I thought I'd sit down with a chocolate bar whilst I waited, and still had my mouth full of the first chunk when they picked up! I rang them at 4.30 yesterday too, which always seems to be a bad time, and they picked up within a minute. Much better than in June when I literally spent hours on hold at the side of the road with a lunched gearbox! They said to try and get a cheaper quote for them to match, so I tried Peter James. Very helpful, but couldn't get within £100 of FJ!http://www.saynoto0870.com is a very handy website for this sort of thing, if you're using a mobile.

   |   Re: Right names pleaseOne benefit of living over here is that I pay 45 Euros per year for the first 2cv and 38 Euros for each subsequent one. That covers the cars, any driver. _________________

   |   Re: Right names pleaseTwo worrying incidents above - the car wrecked by a mad mum in an MPV whilst the 2CV was legitimately parked, and the £3k repairs not being covered by the guilty 3rd party's insurance. Ok, I have no personal experience of this lot, but hear good things: http://www.autosurance.co.uk/index.php? ... Itemid=439 And at £9.99, that's cheap legal protection. I've gone for the full whack - car, household, consumer rights, etc. - and that's only £25 for the whole family; it usually costs that much for just the car LP or the household one alone. They will handle any dispute as long as it seems pretty clear you were in the right. And they can smell a corrupt claim (oh, the whiplash didn't start until 2 years after my car was hit...) from a mile away...
