Nice one. 8-) You have a wise head on you matey for such a young un'.

My lad is 26 and wouldn't be seen dead near a 2cv, he thinks it embarrassing that I own one. Last week he came to me when I had parked next to a Lexus facing a pub. He happened to be in that pub and had told his mates that his dad's car was across the road, they automatically assumed it was the Lexus.

When he said that it was the 2cv they thought he was winding them up and bet him a pint each that it wasn't, so he came across the road to say hello, and thanks for the five pints he had just won. :?

It's a done deal DA let it lie. ;)

The way I see it is that this forum was set up by 2cv enthusiasts to talk about 2cv's, and (almost) anyone else is welcome to do so also. I accept that, so if anything it's me that is the square peg in the round hole here. I like 2cv's, so I can do that here no problem, and I don't have an issue with that either.

And anyways....

  James I guess you're too old to remember why someone would use the term 'grasshopper' when referring to a young protege, but I feel like using it here.

Grasshopper... always remember one thing...

:D Happy to let it lie, Old Nail.

Still haven't heard an argument for why 'O/T' shouldn't have its own forum, tho'.

(Sorry about that - the horse twitched.)

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it all, but I get the impression that O-N appreciates having this forum as an 'outlet' for his pondering as much as we clearly enjoy reading about them. I get the feeling it's more 'personal' this way - he's talking to peeps he knows he has something in common with, and that connection helps. Or, perhaps I'm just being greedy - perhaps I don't want O-N's musings to be on a blog accessible to anyone at random - and then we are thrown a casual 'if you want to' link to it, almost as an aside...

Anyways, if no dedicated O/T Forum, then surely no problem him carrying on his musings at length on either the current, half-baked, 'O/T' Thread, or else on the 'old blue...'?

Don't take it the wrong way, but I really want this to stay a 'mainly 2cv' forum. I do understand people might want to discuss things that aren't 2cv related, and that's why we have the O/T thread. I personally (and I can't speak on behalf of the other three) think this is fine. There's a nice mix of topics on the O/T thread and I do quite enjoy reading it. It is just like a constant conversation going on which is always changing and developing. I don't think we should start an entire new forum for what we seem to do quite well in one thread.

I'd really like it if Old Nail continued to do exactly what he's doing as well.

Oh, and I fear change too.

I agree with Russ! This is a A-type forum, so A-type must be the mail subject. In many topics, there are always some off topics moments. That depends on the subject and the reactions posted. There is nothing wrong with that.
New, non A-type topics, therefore should be posted in the off topic thread. Or, when started as a new topic, being merged by the bosses with the O/T thread.
This topic has no rules on subjects, you can post what you want, as long as it is off topic ;)

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering
