Grumpy old man time.

Just been forced to listen to radio 2, as Dale Winton was playing the chart hits from 1971.
Forced to listen because the wife's uncle was on it, who as the lead singer of a Norwegian band had a big hit that year. The band, aptly named 'Titanic', had one big hit then sunk without trace.

I have money I'm desperate to spend on a new car. The internet is a dangerous thing isn't it?

If I buy something non-A series, is that selling out a bit? I well fancy a Trabi as previously mentioned, but not having one lined up to buy now means I'm hunting the net desperate to get rid of my cash...

No such thing as selling out really is there? Do what pleases you, variety is good.

If I thought I could shift my 2cv quick enough I'd currently be bidding on one of these.

An A35? I'm not a fan of British tat really. It's too much pipe and slippers for me. Whatever I end up with must be old enough to get on my classic insurance and preferably something I can get the bird and sprog in, because that's what the 2cv was meant for, and some twat went and put a roll cage in it 'because it's cool'.

I really fancy either a Trabant or a Skoda 120. Something a bit different. I'm hankering a little for another Capri or a stack light Merc. God only knows.

Old Nail - they don't make cars like that any more **sigh**

Anyways, can I suggest that you initially include everything - names, warts, an' all - in your book, and then you can decide at the editing stage just how far to go. No doubt that will include a fair bit of self-censorship.

20 years hence when your pension needs a boost - and you're pretty confident that most of the protagonists are either well and truly dead or disabled through incontinence - you publish the updated version.

If you decide to publish a fuller version now, but with censorship of names/dates or whatever, then make sure you have a copy of the comprehensive version stashed away in a safe somewhere; anyone offering threats can be told that full evidence of their wrong-doing will be released should they persist...

On a slightly different note, your life story will almost certainly be an evocative read for anyone who's experienced the time and place of your upbringing - and will simply be gripping and entertaining for the rest of us; it will work on at least two levels.

Meanwhile, look after t'other 'alf - she'll be the one who saves you.

There's a vital flaw in that DA, in that I won't be around myself in 20 years time!

Pension? I have none to top up. I contracted out of the state system in the 80's, and now our wonderful bankers have wiped out my pension fund I will get nothing, not even a basic state pension. I can never retire, which means whatever I do, or wherever I go, I'll still need to do something.

Maybe I'll go back to flower arranging. ;)
