Russell wrote: That doesn't look too bad, and am I right in thinking that's quite a good price for a 2cv out there? Yup. A decent Deuche out here typically runs around 8-10K USD, or about 5-6.4K of y'all's pound sterling thingies. More, for a real cherry car, or an unusual and desirable variation. Think Charleston - a real one, not this repainted fraud - I've seen those go for as much as $14K out here. Almost ten thousand pounds!! Bid's up to $4K. Still a bargain. I think I'll give the feller a call and go and take a look. I'm inclined to be a bit suspicious. The seller "knows nothing of the car - it was in a lot of 3 acquired as part of a trade". Right. Thick undercoat - what that hiding? Also, it hasn't been licensed since '06 - which means it's never been through Maricopa County emissions test, which are impossible for even a perfectly tuned 2CV to pass. They're considerably tougher than California's, even, I understand. A mailing address outside Maricopa and Pima Counties is the only way to get one registered and licensed in the State of Arizona. Jeez, another ride. Just what I need. My bride'll have my cojones on a spit if she sees this one in the driveway. Still, if it's a decent car....

 Re: Leboncoin/eBay finds
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Citroen- ... ars_Trucks<<NO major rust or cancer. A few rust bubbles at cowl vent area near hood hinge .bottom of doors are rust free .>>> Yeah, right. A lovely car, took one's breath away - until those floor mats came up. The only thing holding that floor and frame together is the thick undercoating. I could have put my fist through the floor without much effort. Somebody's gonna buy this heap, spend a lot of money shipping it to wherever, and be horrified when they get a closer look. Who'd buy a car unseen and uninspected off Fleabay?
