The sub has fat wires supplied (with inline fuses), so it is a matter of duplicating that for the head unit. Also the head unit and sub have fuses fitted.

I really like the idea cutting out the ignition wire as I will take the face off everytime I get out anyway.

I am sticking the head unit under the dash shelf anyway so there is earth right there.

I'm probably wrong, but I still think you need to have the blue wire on the sub (that turns it on) to the ignition, as otherwise the sub and amp will be live constantly. Or not at all? That way switching the ignition off turns the amp off, and taking the face off/pressing the off button turns the head unit off.

I was going to connect the blue remote wire from the head unit to the sub. However the ignition wire is already there as I may as well connect it.

where should I run the cables to the sub? just stick them under the mat?

blue wire is the switched remote wire... it turns on the sub or off too..

actually my head unit has the antenna lead and remote lead specifically labelled 'sub switch' nice...

bear in mind too that if its fed from "ignition on", when you are hangin round mcDs carpark wi your phat tunes pumpin theres a good chance your coil will be cooking away nicely ;)

may fit a large capacitor to cope with that anyway, though I won't be playing phat tunes outside maccydees :)
