 Re: Yet another red spesh...
I'm having a right caper with the new springs. I'd made spacers up under the spring as I assumed the springs were so short the chassis would rest on the ground even with the rods adjusted right up, well, apparently not, because even with the rods a fair way out it was still sitting right up in the air. So, I cut the end off the can (again) and removed the spacer from the rear (the front seemed to be fine). This resulted in the car locking solid about 6" off the ground, I first assumed it has a mismatched set of shockers with four fronts fitted, so i whipped the rear shock off and it was still the same.
Then, I realised it was in fact the slider which has the two 46mm nuts on coming onto contact with the spring cup (I said the springs were short!) so I cut 30mm-ish off the end of the slider, which has left it in a state that seems ok at the moment, but I'm pretty sure when it's loaded up and going over bumps will result in the cup hitting the slider again.
I'm really not sure why it's still so high though. Ok, so it's go no shell on and no weight, but even on standard springs you can adjust a car right down to the ground with no problems, and these springs are so hard I'm not sure it's going to drop a vast distance with weight on it.
Ah well, back to the drawing board, I'd better go and see what exactly I can do about it.

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
Russell, maybe try putting it together sans canisters? At least you'd be able to see what was happening when the chassis was loaded with engine/gearbox at one end and a couple of passing bods on the other end to simulate the weight of the bodyshell...

I had that when I fitted my half length springs, I let it down off the jack and was like, 'WTF' it was solid and high. I think I cut about 25mm off the end of the slider and it's been fine ever since, no bottoming out of the spring cup. I also shortened the tie rods about 50mm, although spacers under the springs do the same.

I think I've got it right now, I've done as you suggest Joolz, and I can get the fuel tank to hit the floor before it locks solid. I think by the time the tanks torn open, the axle bolts are ground off and the sump plugs ripped out, the contact between spring cup and threaded tube will seem like a small problem.

Dropped. Primed/sealed/primed. Yet more bits of the Cross car. Not sure the arms are turned enough, but they'll do.

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
Great work! If you drive like this, not only the axle bolts will wear, but the entire chassis will be ground off after some driving
