Can anyone tell me what sort of deal I can expect from Footman James classic insurance?
I'm probably their perfect customer, 50, never claimed before, car is garaged in a good area yet it's coming up online as £298.00 which I think is expensive for classic cover.

I've had it up to _HERE_ with cheap premiums but lousy service (Do NOT get me into a rant about Admiral!) - both of those outfits have been very good personal service so far, but you could possibly find a premium a quid or three cheaper elsewhere.

A problem I have found with FJ over the last few years, is this....I have had a full licence for 20yrs now, and the last claim I had against myself was in 1993, yet I'm paying more(£191)than a lot of guys on here that are a lot younger than me, and so have less "experience". How the HELL they work out their premiums is beyond me Also, unlike other brokers/companies, they've wanted the premium payed, there and then, in FULL So not exactly a glowing endorsement from me...and I haven't (thankfully, as yet) used their claims department/breakdown service, so God knows what experience I'll have, if I ever have to use either of them. I tend to use them for the European breakdown cover, because RAC want over £100 for each visit abroad

Well I've held a full license for 32 years, don't use the car for commuting, live in a quiet village (well it was 'till I came) and the quote is still £298.65. There's also no discount shown for being a 2cvGB member or not. Not at all impressed.

I've been driving since '94 & have a clean license. Two A-series currently insured, both with agreed values.

£99.80 with FJ. I've got a feeling Timmy pays under a hundred quid too & he's younger (& better looking) than me.

It must be something to do with the online form then? Not exactly drawing in trade is it?
I'll ring them up then, after I've rung Carole Nash first who I've used before for other classics for around the £100 mark. Do you have an alarm? I think that's what they don't like about mine, the lack of one.

My FJ classic insurance is about £150 ,agreed value, unlimited mileage, breakdown and european breakdown cover etc ,had licence 20 years .Also got classic bike insurance with them,3 for £107 and my BX on a normal but TPO and limited mileage to keep it down to 160 odd, couldnt get it on the same policy as the azu unfortunately.

Ah, another company much-lauded who've never ever given me a decent quote.

They wanted £300 for the VeloSlowlex, ffs...

No alarm. Both are garaged, not sure how much of a difference to the premium that actually makes?

Hope you've got a spare few hours if you're planning on calling FJ - no matter when i've tried recently i'm always told by the automated bint on the other end that they are 'experiencing an unusually high level of calls at present - your call will be answered by the next available insurance agent' I had the same spiel 3 days running & it didn't matter whether you rang at 9am on the dot, or at the end of day...

They used to be far more efficient.

You be far better off phoning. Don't bother with online quotations IMHO.
