Post Re: 1987 2CV Bamboo
Today I've been busy in the garage fitting the race springs to the bamboo, I thought it was going to be a real nightmare but the first side was a doddle! I've stopped for a bre and some crisps but I'll get out there and do the other side after lunch. I've not fitted the new front arms yet but I'll probably do that later in the week if I have time.

It's not very low yet, but I'm having problems with the front bump stop, it is fully compressed as the car sits in the picture, I've removed the spacers that were behind it and cut about 10mm off the top but the front is still virtually solid, I'm sure it's no big deal to sort though.

To get round the problem of the spring cans hitting the floor and denting which happens with low cars, (and prevents the springs from moving properly) I've cut them away and left them open, although this will require more cleaning out and greasing regularly I can live with that.

because the front and rear are no longer connected, the rubber doughnut (mmmm, doughnuts...) is compressed, this isn't ideal but as soon as I can get a full set of the aluminium solid mounts found on vans or AmiSupers I'll replace them.

It's a bit pissed at the moment!

Cheers Neil!

should a bamboo have white or grey wheels? I think white would suit it...

Grey IIRC. i always think white wheels look like they've had the touch of 'over-enthusiastic amateur', especially on cars that should have gris rose rims... grey FTMFW

if it's the stop that is under the arm.. a hard rubber rectangle thing... l took Ads off.. not cos l thought .. ok lets .. but cos a Genius told me to.. and the genius only runs low cars... .. undid the nut on the bottom then removed.. if the nut just turns cos the rubber is not holding the bolt slight.. slice through the rubber .. not fingers and then remove using spanners.. .. make any sense?

Already taken them both off Tree, I just forgot to mention it. I'll fit the new arms after work and hopefully it'll be ready for wales next weekend!
