Post Re: My 2cv
Well I'm back and apart from the car suffering from episodes of Toyotaitis(sticking throttle), it's behaved perfectly :D

Left Worcester at 7:50am on Monday and by 4pm, we were in Fort William..420miles. Got a b&b in Roy Bridge, about 15miles north of Fort William and highly recommended, too(Homagen b&b), and right opposite Roy Bridge Hotel where I had a huge dinner.

Next day, we travelled on, to Ullapool and the west coast. Spent some time looking round the town, then headed north to Cape Wrath and Durness. Once at Durness, I parked up and climbed down the cliff to Smoo Cave...Well worth it. From there, we continued along the north coast road to Thurso and on to Wick, where I booked into another b&b and leaving the 2cv on the drive, walked into town for a bite to eat.

Next morning, the "proprietor" of the b&b told me the 2cv had caused quite a stir with the locals...Everybody was slowing down to take a good look at it!

Anyway, I left after breakfast and headed the 16miles north to John o'Groats and Dunnet Head(the most northerly point on mainland Britain), before heading back west, to visit Thurso, then headed south on the A9(I love the A9 up there, not so, further south).

Dropping down through Inverness via The Black Isle, I continued along the A9 till I reached Pitlochry, where I stayed overnight at The Well House(another highly rated hostelry).

Thursday morning, after a cracking breakfast, we continued our journey south and visited The Falkirk Wheel, then New Lanark Heritage Site, before leaving Scotland and headed for Hadrian's Wall, in Northumberland. After an hour or so, walking along the wall, I felt it was time to point the nose of the 2cv south and make for home. Total distance covered.....1,388miles.

I've booked a week off, the 12th-19th May(French National week), so may decide to do that.

Post Re: My 2cv
When I bought this 2cv it had an original Citroen alloy bodied indicator flasher unit(the one that says "WARNING-MADE IN FRANCE" stamped into it). Well, some years later I acquired a green lamp for the tell-tale on the dash, but the flasher unit has always been a little slow, so when I was at the 2CVGB National about 3 years ago I bought a replacement unit that was a modern type(black plastic and cube in shape), but when I attached the tell-tale lamp the unit would quietly click away to it self(but not illuminate any bulbs) when the stalk was in the centre(off) position. I replaced the unit, but still had the problem so ended up disconnecting the tell-tale lamp. Anyway, today I decided to reconnect it out of curiosity and so far the system is working perfectly  Any ideas why this should be so? Just curious.

Post Re: My 2cv
Day off, today :D So decided to go for a drive out and ended up at Cyfarthfa Park in Merthyr Tydfil(It's where I was born and grew up). I was sat on a bench in front of Cyfarthfa Castle, with the 2cv just behind me, when this woman sat on the bench next to me and asked "Are you the Real Radio Renegade?", to which I quickly slid away from her saying "no" "Aww" she said "Are you sure? If you are, I win £3000" :? I then made a sharp exit from that situation and went for a walk...Only to have another two women and and a young girl approach me to ask the same question :x Needless to say, I made a fairly sharp exit from the park....Crazy folk

True

The biggest shock of the day though, was returning to the car to see two Gurnos "Chavs" (Gurnos is a vast council estate in Merthyr, and quite infamous) looking at the car and exclaiming "Wow" They wanted to know all about it...Strange indeed.

Just been over to the 'rent's house and dragged the Combi-Camp off the lawn and onto the towbar. I've given it the once over and took it out for a shakedown, all seems well. So with luck, judgement and MONEY, I'll be heading for the FN next Monday :D

Post Re: My 2cv
As some of you will know, I've been to the FN in my 2cv and had the Combi-Camp lashed behind, with my bike off the bootlid. :D

Only problem(apart from heavy fuel consumption  )is now, yet again, the manifold is blowing big time  I'm getting really ucked off by this  How the hell can I save up to replace the interior and afford to do other improvements, when I'm having to sort out recurring issues like this? :x Really does blunt one's enthusiasm

Try these. I had the same problem as you and these appear to have sorted it. Also make sure your manifold to cylinder head mating faces are not corroded.
