Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
Aiden, I did the van not long ago, FJ will send you a valuation form you need to fill in and then you will need at least 2 photos (not polaroids) showing the present condition and the number plate and if the car is under £15000 and over 20 years old you can value it yourself.

Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
dads whole fleet is insured with f j the acad is agreed for £6000 as is the ak and rudolph is £4000. the h van is at £7000. i think £3000 is a more realistic value for j as it reflects the work done and age. not sure what he put on the slough but i think its up at around the £20,000 mark. we do have to carefull thou as hes only suppose to use 1 at a time bit tricky when i take MY acadiane out as well as what ever he brings. just dont crash both on the same day and we should stay out of trouble. hope nobody from f j is reading this

Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
This thread has got me wondering about my own car. I've always insured them direct line, premium 100 quid, payout market value (which meant nothing), expecting total loss if anything happened.
After spending many hours rebuilding the car, this time I'm going to try agreed value but haven't a clue what to put down. As Adrian says you can probably get insurance for sentimental value just like Ladbrookes will take a bet on Elvis coming back to win the next election, but would I be able to reflect the hours of work that I've put in?
I don't want a huge cover all premium, but I will be using the car daily and would need to replace it should the worst happen. What's the going rate for a rebuilt 2cv nowadays?

Considering all the work you've put in/what it would take to make another one as good, I'd have thought you'd be at least approaching five figures.

Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
My ami was valued at £700 approx, not worth enough to worry about agreed value. If I had a top notch car like old nails I'd certainly condsider it though, I'd hate to put all that work into something and lose it. My only concern being, has anybody ever lost a car on an agreed valuation and claimed sucsessfully the entire worth of the car back?

Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
I called into a local specialists not long since and the cars that he had for sale started at 4.5k so apart from buying privately where a bargain might be found, 5 grand looks to be the ball park replacement value. I find it difficult talking in thousands instead of hundreds these days

Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
The detailing that has gone into your car would place it around £7000-£8000, IMO. So I'd insure it for at least £7,500.

Re: Agreed Value Insurance with FJ
Quick update. I had a chat with a young lady at Footman James. Moving up to an agreed value of £3000 made NO DIFFERENCE to my premium!!!! So guess what I did?
