According to that ad there are fewer than 150 Dyanes left on the roads in the UK. How did that happen? I'm starting to regret scrapping mine in 2005.

It happened because a load of people scrapped them around 2005!!!

Actually, I think there are a few more than that - 200 to 300 rings a bell.

According to the government statistics only 146 Dyanes passed their MOT in 2007 so only 146 were legally on the road that year (compared to 2500 2cvs). The number of Dyanes might have gone up, or they might have been classified as 2cvs for their MOT.

...or they may have passed their test in December, less than a month before the expiry in January of the previous test, then their owner didn't get around to the next one until after New Year...

I wish I'd kept it now ... however, at the time I had an H van project on the go and the Dyane was my daily transport. I was commuting to Peterborough from Wolverhampton once a week and when the pushrod oil seals blew and I was offered a freebie Renault 5, it seemed sensible to park the Dyane up for another day. Then I lost my parking space with no notice, so when the scrap man came calling it seemed a good idea to let the Dyane go. It was a better car than my current 2CV and at the very least I could have salvaged loads of spares. Still, never mind.

Oops. Drifting off topic ... sorry.
