 Re: NEW CHASSIS
I'd be inclined to say (as suggested already) that a certificate proving the vehicle has passed the UK MOT test would be sufficient evidence? It might also be worth contacting Matt C (2CVGB's esteemed Registrar of Registers) and request him to write a note backing this up - along the lines of the fact that the car is entirely UK road legal on it's replacement chassis. Then at least you have the backing of another 'official' uk-based organisation.

Except, of course, that the MOT certificate makes no mention of the chassis. Personally, I think I'd write to DVLA and ask them the question explicitly - then hand the letter to the tester in NL, probably with an official translation.

Dutchrob is in Nederland so what happens in France is of little or no concern, the Wheels chassis is made in Belgium these days by A.M.I.S., see here: http://www.amis.be/, you might get some help from them! Jonathan wrote: If, as 2cViking says, CT are turning a blind eye, to the letter of the law, if the car is in an accident, how would French insurance companies act? Would they worm their way out of paying, because it's non-original and not type-approved? If so, then that is a major issue, I guess. Though it could also apply here, in the UK, if an insurance company was wanting to be arsey. I think it is safe to continue that subject, now that Dutchrob got his answer. That insurance question is heard again and again at various 2cv gatherings here in France. We asked our local contrôle technique person if he has ever heard of this claim that the insurance company can/will pull the plug on an A model with galvanized or none original chassis. His answer was no. Popular believe is that if you modify the car (drum to disc, 435 to 602 and fitting Visa engine etc) the insurance will pull out in case of an accident but they do not know what they are looking at and have no hope of working it out. Even chassis without VIN numbers are ignored. Same for engine numbers. If you replace the engine just remember to move the engine number over. Sadly this country is full of incorrect informations and heaps of scaremongering

His answer was no. So it must be true, I am so relieved. John {spanners} couldn't you do this in the UK. I am sure if you said it was OK then that would put an end to the debate for the whole of the UK too.

 Re: NEW CHASSIS
Further more, just had a phone call from Marc Voisin so we asked him the question. Marc is the 4x4 guru in France http://www.2cv4x4voisin.fr/ and he said you can fit any chassis you like and it is not illegal. Just remember to punch the VIN number in the right place including the official Citroën logo 0 with double chevron inside.

 Re: NEW CHASSIS
dont the Dutch have a hang up about it because somebody once had an accident and the replacement 2cv chassis impaled the car it ran in to, or is that an urban(2cv) myth?
