Ok, well I'll probably book the ferry until the Monday and like you say, play it by ear.

I'm not planning to be on a boat till monday 17th. Don't know which boat yet, but cost wise dover - boulogne is looking the favourite.
Can't stump up the cash for a longer crossing shorter drive right now.

Well it looks like I'll be able to walk a lot sooner than anticipated so will be coming along. Other than a) I will be going and b) I'll take the dyane, I haven't thought or done anything. But I'll try read this thread a bit more often!

Fluorescent!!! Anyone can do it without feeling stupid. And if you forget... you should by law carry a fluo jacket for every passenger in france. so no excuses.
