Post Re: 1987 2CV Bamboo
Been off sick with plague or aids or something today, but I've got so bored of sitting about idly I thought I'd either go to work and put up with it or polish the car.

I polished the car, obviously.

I started thinking about what the bamboo will need doing before Spa, it looks like it might get painted this weekend, so I gave the bits of it that won't be painted a buff up, to try and get some of the scratches which are quite deep to look a bit less obvious. I used G3 which works quite well.

I got bored of polishing *very* quickly, and something that's been bugging me is the fairly shagged rear bumper. I wasn't sure what to do instead, but knew that the bumper which was on the car was destined for the scrap bin. While I was taking it off I couldnt help but notice the rear valance was looking pretty shabby now, so I thought I'd take the lights off and have a better look at it. I wish i hadn't now, as it needs a new back panel!

I reckon I might be able to get round this for a little while with some hefty bodging though...

Popping my head under the car tells me there is plenty of scope for going lower, especially at the back.

When I've recovered from whatever tropical illness I've got, I'll be having a look at installing my home made flamer kit, and possibly making some harder front shocks.

I don't know if it's going to work yet Louis, but if it does I might head down the scrapyard again and make a few more...

They are wimpy ones though, all they do is ignite the existing unburnt fuel in the exhausts.

That's the aim Louis!

It might not work at all though, we'll have to see ;)

A long time ago when I used to look after quite a famous yellow 3 wheeler, to make it smoke on 'Action' we drilled the manifold, welded a nut so we could put in a metal brake pipe, connected this to a washer bottle full of cooking oil, then on cue perfect white smoke 'great fun' moving the car to another location
