 Re: Money no object.....
Oh yeah, I'd also have a Louis 4x4, and a slightly tatty AKS 400, and an X reg Jaune Mimosa Club - like the one my Dad had when I was a nipper:- EDIT: Sorry Russ, I've just read your first post properly and realised that we're only allowed to say one car. Oh well, I'll still go with the AZAM then.

 Re: Money no object.....
It'd have to be an aks400 for me that I could turn into a camper.

 Re: Money no object.....
I did think of picking a Sahara, but thought too many others would choose it....so didn't. As it happens, it doesn't seem that popular So I will choose a Sahara and sod the maintenance worries of setting it up right and keeping it so

 Re: Money no object.....
Complete original raid spec 2CV (circa 1973 Raid Africa) would be lovely..

 Re: Money no object.....
Must agree with you there, Studio. That car sums up so much of A series Cits. My choice below, though: Well, probably not a van sooo... if my heart ruled my head, a well used but well looked after, four light, Paris built AZAM - with a couple of the choiciest factory extras and possibly a spare engine from a Pontac? Or maybe a 70s 2CV6, mechanically and structurally as new (ie original) but with faded Orange Tenere paint. Perhaps the later car, if it is to be the only one. Sometimes I dream of uncovering a pre-war car somewhere in a lofty, dry Auvergne barn... Difficult to ignore the Dyanes, perhaps the best A series overall... an early one would be lovely... But, why not a 1970 Ami 8 estate, just nicely run in? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MRG4BDalgM&feature=relatedFast (once the flywheel has gathered some momentum!), comfy, a huge long, deep load area, rare, the more I think about one, the more it makes sense. All the delights of the flat twin and other long-lived refinements, coupled with a more aerostable and aerodynamic shape. So a saloon slips through the air a little more sweetly, but with the break you have all the advantages of a van but with more comfort and pace. (This would be my one and only car - I don't have a 'modern' eurobox to fall back into. ) Made when the double chevron was still on many bolt heads, with the superior sliding windows, fine quality, just the slightly compromised headroom and lack of roll back roof to endure. Plus frequent anti-corrosion servicing. I needn't lower the suspension to stand out from the crowd, either!

I think they're the most stylish of all 2cvs: - If it's going to be that era, it's got to be four-light - the six-light-plus-ears rear quarter is just far too "busy". It's funny you say that, last night I went had had a gander at a car I'm going to be doing a few jobs on, a '67 AZAM. It had 6 windows and the doors were front hinged. I wanted it, but I knew if I ever bought such a beast I'd be annoyed I didn't buy a 4 light suicide door job. The later 6 lights look all too much like common or garden 602cc disc brake dross.

 Re: Money no object.....
Something similar to this one: A used "dans son jus" AZ ripple bonnet. Only modifications would be a modern 602 engine and gearbox, so I can use is as a daily.
