 Re: My 2cv
+1 to FUK Lol
If you have had back fires, and you have one clean plug, and one sooty plug (or is it oily), then it suggests you have false air on the clean plug side. Try putting an 11mm ring spanner on the bolts holding the spider to the head on the inlet manifold. Don't be excessive, but can you easily tighten the bolts.
Often, carb cleaner is very flamable. When you have cleaned the carb, and re assembled, with the engine warmed up, if you spray a little cleaner around the inlet manifold to head joints, and the base of the carb, do the revs rise?

 Re: My 2cv
Thanks for that Roger, if I get any more issues I'll take to looking at those areas. After soaking the carb yesterday I tried the car this morning and it fired into life IMMEDIATELY. It hasn't behaved like that since before the recent cold and damp weather arrived. It took me by real surprise as I was expecting it to struggle yet again. I'm feeling quite chuffed at the moment Fingers crossed that I've finally managed to cure the problem. Thanks for all the help and pointers chaps. Watch this Space

 Re: My 2cv
Thats cool Though it could be you have primed it with something volatile Does indicate its a fuel/air issue though. When warmed up, does it idle ok?

 Re: My 2cv
I'd written a lengthy piece about the Morris, and the 2CV, on the Pre-War Minor forum, but a copy and paste won't post to this forum, very annoying.

 Re: My 2cv
I took the 2CV out again this afternoon and it fired up straight away again. So I'm hopeful.
