Post Visa Engine & 2CV Gearbox
Picked up a Visa engine to go in the Bedouin.

Well, two engines, but one is just block, barrels and flywheel

The other engine is more complete, but no flywheel, alternator, carb or ignition.

1st major, task will be to see if the bores are ok.

2nd will be getting the flywheel altered to fit inside the 2cv bell housing.

FYI
2cv crankcase can be modded to take visa barrels
From the VGS site …
There are several reasons why our engines are always built on a 2CV crankcase. The advantages of the 2CV crankcase compared to a Visa engine include:

The 2CV crankcase fits standard in a 2CV, so you don't have to make any adjustments
The 2CV crankcase has a better alloy than the Visa crankcase
You can use the original ignition
A 2CV crankcase is easier to find and therefore cheaper
The engine looks the same from the outside as original. We also use the 2CV crankcase for the larger engines, so only the cylinders are different from the original. This is hardly noticeable.

Where's the fun in that :D

I'm thinking of swapping out the ring gear and having it moved back to fit the housing. That way I can use a 2cv starter motor.

If I have a trigger wheel cut into the flywheel at the same time, I can use my Speeduino engine management to run spark, and also fuel injection later. Possibly add a turbo later still. :D :D :D

But first, I need to sort out my little motorhome to use as a workshop. I can park it outside of my home in the road. :D It's been at the back of a barn for the last six years, so I need to evict a lot of spiders.

This is to be my workshop on wheels.

I got it down to the farm parking area and gave it a good wash.

Still need to clean inside prior to handing it over the garage for work.

I know it needs welding. Front brakes were a bit grabby, but were easing off buy the time it was put back in the barn. Hand brake had been left off during storage, so hadn't seized on.

Appears to drive ok. :)

unfortunately, it only does about 18 mpg. Which is why it will be a workshop. :)

When I used an LNA bell housing the 2cv starter need the nose/flange made shorter in the lathe.

^I milled the bellhouse on that, to have standard starter to fit 2cv6 engine with Visa/LNA bellhouse on GS box. Somewhere on this site should be photos with measures oh that..?

It's easier to heat up 2CV ring gear and remove from flywheel. cut off visa ring gear get Visa flywheel machined so that 2CV ring gear will be in the correct position. Freeze Visa flywheel put 2CV ring gear in oven put it on cold cold Visa Flywheel Done.
