Thirty six years old and new ones are over £50.00 so,

I brazed a patch on (underwater just to make it more challenging ;) )

That's that but, unfortunately the wing is too frilly so I've ordered a new one. This job just won't get finished  , still, at least the weather's nice 8-) .

Great work. Re-using feels so rewarding! At least to me.

And it's back on the car.

ImageP1030320 by Robndaisy, on Flickr

Stainless pipe but our old friend the galvanised gland bolt, After the re-test I'll cover that flamer with a load of grease

ImageP1030321 by Robndaisy, on Flickr

Use a new hubnut or (as I have) swop them side to side.

ImageP1030324 by Robndaisy, on Flickr

So it's back to the front :!: Let's sort out the 2cv boot, driveshaft that is ;) .

Here it is on the right, it was old but fine, this type had a rubber collar securing it to the driveshaft and it had become detached. there was a lot of goo so the tester assumed that the boot was u/s, it wasn't but I had neoprene replacements so I fitted one , that's the new one fitted on the left.

ImageP1030325 by Robndaisy, on Flickr

i replaced the inner boot as well, this is original, neat Ligarex n'est pas :?: I just fit zip ties and feel like a Philistine but life's too short (and the kit is too dear).

Unless your fingers and thumbs need a workout there has to be an easier way of getting the new boot onto and over the splines,

thank you Burton ;) .

Thought I'd do the other side whilst I was at it, Ligarex again but stainless and not such a good factory job, someone had been there and was frugal with the grease (if any). That explains the ticking noise on full lock then  .
I was somewhat annoyed but had to use a driveshaft from the Dyane just to get this car finished. Next up, find out why the foglight doesn't work anymore and fit new wiper blades, nearly there :). It's been a right flamin' saga, tested early March  .

Not yet, holiday here, frosty nights but raining now which will hopefully make the grass grow for the livestock on the nature reserve. :)

The foglight issue was a corroded fuse cap, glass fuses eh!
Booked in for re-test this Thursday. Borrowed two wheels from the Dyane fitted with Uniroyals, never seen them on an A series before.

Well my twenty two year old workhorse, a Suzuki Vitara's MOT has expired (how did I let that slip under my radar?) so I'll need the 2CV for work duties this week. Unfortunately because I never painted the replacement wing that I'd fitted back in 2017, it rotted out around the indicator and by the mudflap. So it was time to quickly repair it,

so quick in fact that I cut out the notch that locates the indicator case upside down so the unit is pointing upwards  Still as we all know, some jobs are only temporary unless they work ;) .

Starts to look like an aeroplane with those rivets. By the way the plastic tiewraps are not ok for the driveshafts. If they get warm they loosen and you will loose grease. Metal ones are better. The original ones from Citroen are rather easy to re-use. You just turn the splitpin with a small screwdriver.
