Highest HP per litre of any engine at the time. The standard engine was an 847cc, but M.G. wanted to gun after the sub-750cc titles that Austin had been successful in with their Seven, so Abingdon reduced the engine size to 747cc (same cc as a Seven) then started a very successful battle with Longbridge at Brooklands.

Post Re: The O/T thread!
I've had some electrical issues with the Morris where the fuel gauge would shoot straight to the pin at the Full side of the face and remain there. I've also had a non-functioning ignition warning lamp. So today I decided to have a prod around behind the dash panel. It took most of the afternoon to sort it all out, not least due to one of the main (thick) wires, the one that links the ammeter to the Lucas PLC (Power. Lights, Charge) ignition switch decided to part company with the switch, so the ignition system was suddenly completely dead. Turns out the terminal is missing a grub screw so it wasn't actually secured properly. As soon as I removed the dash panel from the dashboard the wire fell out :o Anyway, the fuel gauge now appears to work correctly. The ignition lamp had a wire pulled out of a different terminal (with a grub screw in place) on the PLC switch. Everything is now working but I need to find a 2BA 1/4" grub screw to make a proper, permanent fix, then I can start using the car again.

Oh... and I now require the services of a good chiropractor

Still looking Roger

With the easing of Lockdown 3 today, I've done exactly 65 miles. That's now 420 miles completed since December. I've tweaked the mixture and it's performing much better than it was. 8-) Just need to get some piccies up. The platform doesn't like anything other than small images. Annoying.

A very good friend of mine has a 2002 MG TF he inherited from his father. I'm hoping he'll be able to pop down in the next day or so and we can do a photoshoot with my Morris and his TF. As I mentioned a few posts back, the very first small two-seater MG (Midget) was the M-Type of 1929 which was really just a Morris Minor with a more sporty boat-tail body fitted. So the photoshoot will be something along the lines of the First and the Last.
