Re: Make Your Own ....2CV.... 4x4
Engine and Diff Out of car. Leak from 2 places as far I can find at the moment. The Drive flange leaks . I think I took of a "few" thou to many in the lathe should be 50mm but is less than that 49.75, luckily an imperial size seal may do the job 1.983" / 49.22mm. The blanking plate also leaks will seal with some not so cheap "Devcon" aluminuim putty. Attachment:

Re-Worked Drive Flange. When the body is off the chassis, everything is accessible, now I need very long arms to fit the Prop-shaft bolts. (The bloke that designed this? needs sacking.) Fabricated a retaining ring,(with Loctite!) in place of nyloc nuts. Attachment:

The other leak may be more serious, it leaks from my bearing end cover(like a core plug) the gearbox has no oil pressure, but oil will always find a way out. Have used some Aluminuim Expoxy Putty. Will refill gearbox and pray.... The dark circle was weeping oil:( Attachment:

Fixed the oil seal leak by making a new cover, and a larger new seal. Attachment:

Also used Expoxy Aluminium Putty on the core plug. Filled box with fill oil and left overnight, no leaks. I’m pretty sure the drive flange won’t leak, but when the box and oil get hot that will test the putty!
