Post Re: We have liftoff.....
OK, so past week or so, mostly spent lying on my back grinding, wire brushing and chipping the muck and filth off of the underside of the van. Its had some protection in the past and this is 90% intact and where it does chip off its clean, original paint !

The rearmost box member under the back doors needed a wee bit of work to replace a rusted out section, and it will probably need replacing at some point, but, I'm not doing any outside bodywork at the mo so it will do fine for the mo.......(I'm told the "used"look is trendy just now...)

On another topic, I was going to build up the brakes on the front....Doing some research, (Haynes), they show eccentric adjusters on the bottom of the shoes, (and to be fair, its what I recall)....I have 3 drum boxes here and a quick check shows ALL 3 boxes have location devices but NONE are of the eccentric variety, (see below)......All 3 boxes came complete, so I assume original...

Whats going on ??? Should I be getting some eccentrics?

My van came with NONE excentric location devices on the brakes.
I assumed they were replaced as the former owner replaced the brakeshoes when they were worn.
On a second gearbox I bought from a guy near Arnhem, there were these excentrics still left.
I have no idea why at some boxes there are excentrics and at others are not.
Probably vanished by replacement of the breakshoes .
All workshop manuals I own show the excentrics and they are described in the text .
I used the excentrics from my spare gearbox for the breaks of my van now i had to redo the breakes because of breakcylinder leakage .

All cars came from the factory with excenters. But lot's of replacement brakeshoe kits did have the round things in it. Many people could not use the excentrers. (to complicate??) The excenters were often rusted solid to the old brake shoes and were thrown away with them. That's the reason for none excenter bushes... ;-)

If only I had the space !

On a previous project, (Fiat 500), I did roll it over on its side....

Fekity Fek.....on further research, turns out I cut and welded a RHD lamp bar

So, do I strip it all again, grind out the welds, find my LHD lampbar, and cut and weld it all again.........
OR...
Make a wee tiny L bracket and mount it on the right side of the car for that odd occasion I need to adjust the headlamp aim ???????????
