Road car is ready to MOT---- Steering done, new carb (emissions were Bad), lights fixed.

But MOT's hold for non essential cars etc.

So some updates soon on the 4x4

Engine and box out, rear gears dismantled, appear to be well lubricated....

The whole saga began.
Test drove the car, up the road and round the field.
All went well...
Let the car stand for about 5 weeks + started the car , nasty sound from gearbox, push the clutch to the floor, noise stopped, let clutch up noise come back.

ASSUMED it was the input shaft bearing!!!

Have examined the clutch housing, it was clean when it got assembled and had been used before.
The bell housing has some black dust and some aluminuim filings???
Will look at clutch and release bearing.

The saga continues, took the box apart, all the bearings have oil and so no signs of running dry?
But have modified the box anyway...

Before modification.

While I have the engine and box out, I am trying to see if I can move the struts.

Currently even with softer springs the front is too hard.

Move the strut bottom mount to miss the steering and fit under the bonnet, needs some carful measurements!!

Short bottom mount.

Pivot point to miss the steering tie rod?
Yellow line is the sweet spot.
