Re: Make Your Own ....2CV.... 4x4
A clever solution. The ones I have seen, its for the centre gearbox, so a lock between front/rear. Quiz.. Gearbox from ??? Attachment:

Those boxes haven't lock...
That brake is a parking brake, and those boxes has gear reductions on outputs to drive shafts...
And yes, I know where they are from...

It's the "Output Shafts" that look interesting. SM/XM ??

C35
It is the output (pinion) shaft with disc brake. I think that longest version, the 5-speed C35 pinion shaft might be the same what Peugeot 205T16 evo has in 6 speed version of that box...
And yes, the 205T16 has one derivate of this famous DS gearbox. It was only one from PSA what could handle the Group-B power. And that box is used at least these: DS, SM, C35, BX4TC, Lotus Esprit, Maserati Merak (mirror case), Ligier JS2, Peugeot 205T16 (and also 405T16 and Citroen ZX Dakar rally versions). Can be some more, that list is from my memory...

Re: Make Your Own ....2CV.... 4x4
They are readuction gears, and also they change the rotating direction. Because of the origins (DS/SM engine, also C35 engine), it rotates another way, and when the powerplant is swapped like on C35 there will be 5 speed backward...
Those little boxes on output is also on Ligier JS2, but they have not that big reduction what C35 has...
And, when that box is on Merak, it is also swapped around but it haven't those boxes on output but has inboard brakes like DS and SM. Funny Italians solved the problem, by making mirrored casing, and that's because on that box there isn't space to swap the differential like on older DS box and 2CV/GS...

We have tidy up! Attachment:

Garage tidier so that the front gearbox design fault can be fixed. Need to remove Engine front diff/transfer box. Modify, so that the input shaft bearing gets lubricated. Pictures to follow!
