 425 to 602...
Hi Folks
How easy is the swap form 6v 425cc to 12v 602cc ?
Or another question.....How usable is a 425cc equipped vehicle??
Is there a big difference between 425 and 435cc (in terms of usability)
LAst question.....What engine should be in a '69 AZU250
Thanks ! CHeers Gerry

 Re: 425 to 602...
I am driving an 6volt 425cc 12hp all winter. No problems, but you need keep it well maintained. It starts better than most of the modern cars in the neighbourhood. There was an 425 in 69 or 70 that had a bit more power. And had an other dynamo. But the normal 18hp 425 will do nice if you don't want to speed on the motorways.

1967 Dyane had 425, 21 hp engine. 1970 AZU had 425 until 1972, so my guess is a 21 hp 425 for a '69 AZU. Keep it!

And keep out of 435cc. It is the worst version of A-series engine...
Can't see any good things on 435, why they even bother to make that..?

 Re: 425 to 602...
If you’re going to the hassle and expense of changing an engine and budging your car about why not go the whole hog and go BMW and get some real extra power? 425 to 602 is on an ‘upgrade’ - it’s a totally different engine with no parts in common. Or do something imaginative - I’ve seen a 425 tuned to 35bhp. Just don’t go wrecking a perfectly good little van with the misconception that an M28 is either an ‘upgrade’ or ‘in keeping’ when it’s neither. Buy a car that fits your needs or be sympathetic to the one you have.

 Re: 425 to 602...
I bought a 435cc Dyane4 back in 1973 .....I passed my test in it, and sold it in 1975. Quite frankly [IMHO] ....it was'nt powerful enough to be safe back then. Even less so now......Forty odd years later. However, I've never had any such qualms about any of the 602cc motor cars I've had since [3xDyanes & my present 2CV] Still, each to their own .... [this is just my honest personal opinion I might add] T.
