Wonder if it will ever dawn on the proprietor of the Oxford Abbatoir that cleaning up components and giving them a coat of (silver) paint doesn't count as 'reconditioning'...

Glad she's fixed.

I don't have the shrouds and never have. I did once have complete loss of brakes due to them overheating, but I had quite warped discs and was descending down from Exmoor with a car full of stuff from moving house for someone.

I was becoming more and more steep and winding with warning signs, so I had to use one of those emergency run offs! All a bit scary.

I had new discs put on and its been fine since. Just thought I'd chime in for a future reader who might be having problems.

Interesting I think Sam had the same issue downhill once and since then he installed shrouds and not had failure I believe.

Hmm. I have always put it down to the very warped discs.

Funnily enough only heard about the shrouds recently and was thinking of picking some up.

In the design stage someone thought they might be needed. Though the GS has inboard discs there are no such shrouds.
They had been lost/removed on my old Acad, never had brake fade. But never drove down mountains.

That's true but then on the Olcit/Axel (which had the GS engine, gearbox & brakes) had vented discs!
