ther job, repairing the broken headlamps. I bought them for 5 euros from a farmer in france who had them on his tractor. One had a broken aluminum frame that was welded by a friend. But it took a lot of filing an grinding to make the edges smooth again so the reflectors will fit in again. Also the internal cables were broken that i had to repair. The worst one is ready now to receive the reflector. On the second one the hinge pin was half broken so the lamp didn't close very well. I drilled it out and now i have to make some new pins on the lathe. The reflectors were both dented, i tried to remove a much of the dents as possible without damaging he reflective side. They are waiting to be repainted from the back. Not even mentioning the cleaning and polishing of the oxydized aluminum parts.
Next problem find the special matching Marchal bulbs for it.

So far so good.

An 8 hours job...

At last we had more time to do something at the 5hp. We worked 8 hours to adjust and fit the body. We had to file the wood at parts to fit in the petrol tank and it's support.
Well it sit's rather well. Next job to fit the door in place and that it still opens.
And because i didn't have enough of the C3 we worked 4 more hours to get the electronics for the tow hook on de the modern C3 attached. We had to take half the interior apart to install the wiring loom and it's electronic coupling box. At the first test al kind of strange things happend flashing indicators, rear lights going out when switched on etc. It turned out the car did go into ECO-mode....or something like that. Nice those computerised cars...

Tried to fit in the door today. But as it's handmade it was bit to big. So i have to grind it down along 2 sides. There isn't enough place to turn open as it is now. Then i have to adjust and line out the hinges so they turn both in the same level and direction. A whole new experience.

Yes, they are rather good. We have two 1.4i models.

Oh wow you must really like them, you have two! The one I used was a 1.2 litre I think.

The 1.2 engine might be a little light for the car.
I am woodworking again on the 5HP door. The problem it's a bit to large and i did not have the original 5hp doorlock. In the box with parts that came with the dismantles car there was a lock also Citroen but i think it was from an older model. As the car was transformed to 2 doors i wondered why there was only 1 lock. SO i had to do with what i had. I cut the door to fit the other lock in. When i was in the garage a had taken almost all from that parts box and heard something sliding in it. It turned out the box had a double bottom and the right lock was in there with latch. I did want to put that in but now there was a part of wood missing that should take the screws for the other lock. So now i am glueing in parts of wood to fill it back in.... Hope i get it ready before the woodworms come in.
