Old meets new.. Today I made a new fly mesh for my '59 Beamer.. A new one costs about 75,- euro and it still doesn't fit the old 2cv speedo and operator/lever. Well I did it right first time (thats a first) so this mesh cost me 11,50 euro, in (st) painless steel..

and I still can make a second one.

We're just back from a three day trip to the Dordogne organised by our local 2cv club. Not just Deuches as you'll see, which was nice. Sadly, the weather pissed down most of Saturday and pretty much all of Sunday too, which kind of took the edge off the trip. It was great to spend time with the French 2cv owners we've met many times at the monthly meetings.

Our monthly 2cv/Classic Car meet on Saturday. The absolutely brilliant hot sunny weather brought out some new interesting stuff, including, incredibly, this London Taxi (complete with toilet!).

I finally got those funny orange flashing light things working.

New wings, new flashing orange light things. But to my shame its been three weeks since I put them on and couldn't get them to work.

Hand signals get you some very strange looks these days all of a sudden. A completely lack of comprehension of what you are doing!

Anyway I am most pleased with them, they're really bright. Quite expensive really for the two front and two repeater units for the sides. But indicators have always been a weak point on this car so hopefully I won't be having to constantly coax them to work.

Please enjoy this months selection from our local 2cv/classic car meet. The Trabant (fully nut-and-bolt restored) was a real surprise for everyone.

New drivers side wheel bearing fitted yesterday, we did the passenger side last week. The drivers side bearing retaining ring was in a right state, fortunately the correct tool removed it without issue and we we able to use a new one, unlike the person who installed the old one with a hammer and chisel by the looks of it:

Drove it, and it was gorgeous. Even on the motorway it made me grin.

Well, three weeks ago, after seven months of French Administration nightmares, they finally issued the car with a Véhicule de Collection French plate and today....it passed it's first CT test. Next test - five years time! We are well chuffed....and not a little relieved too.
