 drive shaft or kinkpin?
Hi, I'm asking this before I dismantle anything in case this is a known problem and I am able to pre-order the parts. I thought I had a puncture because the metallic noise was like the wheel rim running on the road. It wasn't a puncture. On looking underneath the n/s/f drive shaft seems to be scraping with the top of the kingpin assembly as I can see where the surface of the driveshaft is clean metal. Any ideas? Thanks Chris

Whoops, the bore in the arm is worn, so the pin no longer has an interference fit and is climbing upwards. That needs sorting sooner rather than later; it's usually possible to shrink the bore by running a weld down the outside edge of the arm. Thanks for your reply Ken. That's a shame, I don't have a welder or the skill to use one! I suppose a new kingpin may be required as well. Would you know anyone within striking distance of south London who may be prepared to do it. unfortunately this is my daily machine so I can't be without it while I fiddle with, probably making it worse! Thanks again. Chris

 Re: drive shaft or kinkpin?
You may like to determine if there is play in the kingpin by jacking the car up and rocking the road wheel top and bottom. Any excessive play will require a new kingpin set and not just the pin resolving. The following is the kingpin page at ECAS and shows what is available. https://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/-c-55_56 ... edccf28e94Note there is an oversize pin, but there is no point in just replacing it if the bushes are worn. Another option is to replace the whole arm and hub. I would suggest you at least find someone experienced with kingpins if you cannot find a 2cv specialist.

Chris, check on ECAS's site for repairers near to you, or give Roy a call, since there have been several businesses started by youngsters in the last couple of years whch Roy's not got round to listing yet. < https://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/info_pag ... e7d71e6fcb> I'd reckon on a couple of hour's labour to do the job. indian46 wrote: Thanks for your reply Ken. Re: drive shaft or kinkpin?
Thanks again Ken, I've been put in contact via Ecas, of a chap in Tonbridge and he's doing the job shortly.
So, back on the road soon!
