Post "Ephy"
Introducing Ephy. Named thus as I have two V5s, E***TKL and E***PHY. Given the Mehari is C***DKL I thought adding a TKL to my DKL potentially risky, so TKL remains in reserve and Ephy is reborn.

The back story... I was given, by a lovely gent on the Isle of Wight, the component parts of the above two cars. I promised him that at least one of them would be reborn.
I also have acquired many, many other spares. Should I loose my current storage I would probably end up skipping the lot - there's no real value in the kinds of spares we all have laying about; unknown engines, questionable gearboxes, mismatched doors and boxes of all the BITS you need to make a 2cv.

On the other hand whole 2cvs have a great deal of value - and are far more useful and moveable than crates of stuff.

My thinking is therefore to see how far I can get making a car from all the bits I have laying about.

There's a few things I've had to find, mostly a body and a chassis! Having now sourced these, I'd like to see if I can get it on the road for about £500.

I think there's a happy house somewhere between 'lash up' and 'restoration.' Although it's very patchable, I'm thinking floors, sills and toe board will be a good investment. The rest of the shell is pretty solid. I'll build the chassis up nicely with the intention of having a solid, usable every day hack that can withstand daily use all year round - much like my D*lly - but not as clean, a proper hack that can live in the boatyard, be filled with sails/wood/stuff and get chucked about with dented/rusted panels replaced as we go along.

Watch this space!

Great way to transport a body... you are so right we all have bits and pieces laying around to make many 2cvs ( at least I do.)

So I bought a galv chassis. It's an early 'Wheels' chassis says Ken, with recycled suspension mounts stuck on the outer face.

It's in top condition though which is great. So now I have everything I need to build a 2cv from scratch and I'm £300 down. Not bad methinks.

I've asked Ken to avail me with a set of his uber floors and toeboard, will hit up ecas for sills. As soon as the festivities are done I'll start building up the running gear.... and see what I'm missing

So how about a sweepstake - what are the parts I'll not have?

Enough 46mm nuts for the spring-tubes, that are good enough to re-use.
