Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer This is what mine looks like under the rear cover. Attachment: IMG_20150425_170657_small.jpg I've had a go today with the wiring as you said, same thing. Even if I just connect the signal to the coil and connect ground, then I get no spark. I should be at the national, currently planning on it and it's less than an hour away so I have no excuse not to go.  Thanks Sean.

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer Have you tried starting the car and then connecting it up? My car was a bastard to start until the tacho was unplugged.

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer That "new" one doesn't work like older version, old use signal from coil, new use signal from data bus. Same data bus has almost all in one wire, what earlier had separate wires for every function, like speed signal etc...
If I remember correct, in model year 04 Harley went to data bus...

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer I used one from TinyTach http://www.tinytach.com/Not analogue but was easy to fit. One wire hound the HT lead and blu tack held it to the dash! It also has a hour meter for engine run time. adam_d wrote: Hi everyone.

After a post on the facebook group about them, I got a cheapish Harley Davidson one, but I can't get it to work. As soon as I connect the signal wire to the coil the car won't start. It has 6 wires, so I think I might have got one that's too recent and is expecting a different signal.
I like the look of the Harley one and it has the right range, so if I'm just doing something obvious wrong then excellent. Otherwise, which one is the right one to get? Or what is a good alternative? I'd like to stick to an analogue one if I can.

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer Sorry to dig this thread up, but I'm still trying to find an analogue one old enough to work, and I missed Sean at the national. I'm currently looking at this one, this seems to be older and has the correct wiring but I'm not sure what it should look like: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281701863319?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITI've also tried looking for some BMW ones, and found a couple like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111683303707?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITAgain, these seem to be of the correct age, but I can't find a wiring pinout for it so the Harley one looks more promising currently. Are either of these likely to work? Cheers

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer  This one looks nearly same than "the too new" version, model year and backside are the best way to recognise correct one...  That is how they should look from behind. RPM gauge works perfect and speedsensor is also possible to install to 2cv gearbox with quite accurate speed reading...  One photo of speedsensor, reading teeth of the rearmost gear. At 2cv6 gearing, it is almost correct, 2cv4 doesn't, need to check for AMI8...
