 Rev Meter/Tachometer Hi everyone.
To those that have them fitted, what rev meters are people using on their cars?
After a post on the facebook group about them, I got a cheapish Harley Davidson one, but I can't get it to work. As soon as I connect the signal wire to the coil the car won't start. It has 6 wires, so I think I might have got one that's too recent and is expecting a different signal.
I like the look of the Harley one and it has the right range, so if I'm just doing something obvious wrong then excellent. Otherwise, which one is the right one to get? Or what is a good alternative? I'd like to stick to an analogue one if I can.

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer Mine looks like this in the back, with a multiplug. Sorry that wiring diagram is tiny, it blurs out if I make it bigger and is the only one I can find that matches mine. Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer You need to connect to the (-) side of the coil....thats the side that goes to the points or whatever you use. Which tach did you get was the one i linked to?

Re: Rev Meter/Tachometer Harley is usually black to earth Orange as feed ( live) which leaves you to try "bus" to switched/points side of coil, the rest apear to be the lights and teltales which you c  an use later

Yeah it was the one you linked to, like this but the plug was already cut off: http://www.hdforums.com/forum/attachments/touring-parts/246244d1335181690-road-king-police-tach-dsc_0635.jpgThe way I've tried it is with Ignition/Battery/Accessory connected to 12v, ground connected and the databus/signal connected to the wire to the points from the coil. When I do that it lights up and makes like a power on noise ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjRnrB9LB-4) and the needle twitches. That stops the spark, if I take that wire off the coil negative then it fires fine. The needle on the tach never moves besides when it powers up.
