Re: A 4x4 is (re)born @ Harley I don't now the weight of Louis chassis and mine isn't finished.. We are both aiming other goals.. Louis is aiming for durability, I'm am aiming for lightweight... Yesterday and today I made a second attempt for the airride and I'm very satisfied sofar.. The height keeps on freightning me but take a look for yourself... Attachment:

Re: A 4x4 is (re)born Yes you are right Ken.. But I am just discovering the power vs. suspension-travel of these shocks.. Normaly these shocks are used to lower cars and I want to "higher" it.. I think with 5cm to 8 cm less the driveshafts already cope with the job (think about the angle they make when making a sharp corner) That's why I want to still lower it more having the rear discs about 5cm above the ground in lowest position. The travel will almost be the same but more appropriate... But it looks cool doesn't it...

Now Russ still trying to find a good way between travel and power... Making 4x4's I have several reararms lying around now good for testing.. When I'm satisfied I will modify and use 2 Louis Barbour reararms which I bought half a year ago... Attachment:

Biggest problem I have right now is that the air-schocks are not getting "havier" when the suspension gets compressed???? If you take a good look at the rear suspension of an original 2cv the suspension-arm is getting longer when it gets compressed. Now I need to translate this somehome into the air-suspension..

No "plenty of space" (read tight fit) for them; these are old 5.3x15 tyres fenders are only fixed with one bold at the moment to give you guys an idea.... and for myself too. Tody I'm going to order some T connectors to connect the right and left shocks together so I can see if this helps with getting a stiffer suspension when the suspension is compressed...
