 Re: 1-2-spark
old-fashioned welding the pick-up, because I used a "thin" flywheel with no room for a hole & tapping a bold to it - so no fancy solution for the pick-up unfortunately

 Re: 1-2-spark
it looks good, but I felt it is too thin. it will vibrate.

 Re: 1-2-spark
your feelings are correct - this prototype is 1.0 mm stainless steel - though the motor is not yet build in and running, but I do not have the trust that it is stable enough - I will lasercut another one with thickness 2.0 mm and see how that one will do. Unfortunately there is no other place on the motor and/or gearbox nearby for another fixation. I will keep you posted of my results

 Re: 1-2-spark
@Bracket Like
Idea...
Either bend a 4mm edge along the side (away from carb)
weld along the under side a "stiffner"

I have tested, both VR and HALL -sensor read well the original 6mm timing hole, no lost signal even 8000RPM, haven't tested more yet. With that, the timing hole is about 90 degrees BTDC. Bracket is mounted by these nuts, long enough to work at crankcase nuts and still there is enough thread to mounting bolt. Good enough for Megasquirt, don't know how it could work with 1-2-spark (sorry Geo, couldn't resist)

 Re: 1-2-spark
No problem Jasu...
1. the sensor @ 1-2-spark needs settle at 45 degrees... But I could problably cure that by turning the flywheel 1 bolt at the crankshaft.. the flywheel is bolt by 5 screws 360/5 = 72 degrees, 90 - 72 degrees = 18 degrees no good either..
2. I don't like the idea of sensing at the front of the flywheel. For instants the crankshaft of my old 2cv floats (has axial play) for about 3 or 4mm; the the sensor gap would go from .5mm to 3mm.. This is not good either (especcialy when starting the engine), so this is why I am taking it at the top of the flywheel insted..
Just curious is it possible to put the mounting at the other side of the engine???
Just another thought... Everybody is talking about a unbalanced the flywheel with the pickup, but I am sure there is more stress at the crankshaft putting a belt driven compressor to it....

 Re: 1-2-spark
Thats true about end-play on crankshaft, it can be problem if it is too much...
About belt driven things, the stress what they make is a different issue than unbalanced flywheel...

 Re: 1-2-spark
very nice fitting , i like the logic of using existing carb mounting studs 10 out of 10 pony
