Gear box input shaft , no spin
So Slowbo Span the dummy out the other day , was driving fine then lost the clutch
took engine out today and found the clutch release bearing clip had popped out on one side , fitted a new one
was sorting handbrake out , before refitting engine and spinning wheels ,and saw that the shaft wasn't spinning ,tried to turn by hand ,but its rock solid
can still select all gears
whats going on

Re: Gear box input shaft , no spin
Take a good look at the point where the inputshaft goes into the gearbox. If your bearing is pushed backwards it can melt/disform the inputshaft tube??? and block the inputshaft.....
(I had this at my beamerengine)....

Re: Gear box input shaft , no spin
Got the gearbox-guru coming to take a look and sort it out
Took the lid off to have a look , will go into gears and some things turning , but no spin on the main shaft

Re: Gear box input shaft , no spin
Oboe, check the M7 bolts on the rear cover. If one of the 4 shorter ones is too long, it will foul the rearmost pinion on the mainshaft, preventing it from turning. oboe wrote: Got the gearbox-guru coming to take a look and sort it out

Re: Gear box input shaft , no spin
Oboe, talking to Rick this morning and he mentioned something about gearboxes working better (and lasting longer) if they've got oil in them...
