Post Economy Temp Guage
Pictures of Parts to make either Oil Temp or CHT gauge.

Total Cost about £20.00 (TC 12.00 + Battery £4.00 + Display £3.00 + Plug £2.00)

I used an RS TC I had in the junk box as it has a washer which allows it to be bolted down.

The TC supplied with the display is OK but needs to be attached in a reliable way

For CHT use probe
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thermocouple- ... 3a70c319c4

The display unit is powered by a 9 volt battery, so you have to remember to turn it off.
It CANNOT be supplied from the car 12 volts due to "earth loops".
One side of the TC is connected to ground, such that the TC and display are isolated from the vehicle earth.

Need to rig a up a relay to switch the 9v battery on/off with the ignition.

:o High Tech Gauge :o

It's always better if you can avoid the drilling! ;)
I will try it in my own temp sender, temporary living inside the head cowling.
Have you checked the optimum oil temperature ?

So, whats the diffrence...... I wouldn't go much over 120 degrees for oil...

Rusty I think with some fiddeling you can even use it for Lambda controller....

I like it.... cheap cheap cheap...

Exactly what geo says, temperature is temperature,
if you want to have it a bit more fancy looking, take it apart, redo the interior change it into oil temperature, and put it back together.

I ve seen people putting the sensor in the valve covers, or in the center of the oil sump drainplug. I vaguely remember on (visa) engines there is a flat spot somewhere on the sump where you could drill and tap thread and put the sensor in (take the engine apart for that ;) )

Greetzzzz Rusty
