 Engine breather - what's best?
Looking to make sure my engine breathes as well as poss, but I'm faced with choices. Some new tech: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/complete- ... -2226.html £95. A new version of the tried and tested design: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/engine-br ... -2018.html £65 A repair: http://www.ecas2cvparts.co.uk/breather- ... -2085.html £42 Anyone have any experience of these parts? My inclination is to go for option 3 (recycle and re-use wherever possible) but I don't want to waste my cash if it's going to be no good.

Option 1 should be fine, except it's rusting faster than most 2CV's Option 2 should work, but as with most modern replacement parts, some of them didn't even work from new. Option 3, i don't have experience with this, it should work okay, but if the rubber is of the same quality as the other replacement rubbers, it will be over soon.

I've repaired a couple, it's dead simple. Use silicone baking sheets for the rubber. You can get them off amazon for a couple of quid and there's enough material to repair a couple of dozen.

Fitted one of the second listed ones end of Sept and can recommend them: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4071&start=2510Only two bolts and a couple of hoses, job done.

Re: Engine breather - what's best?
I've tried all 3 options.
The No 1 option is going well after 7 years, but is showing surface rust - performs fine though.
The No 2 option failed in less than one year, which led to...
No 3 option. I can recommend this, and will choose this again in the future. A bit fiddly to get done, but produces the best engine vacuum I've seen and cheap enough to buy just the rubber parts in a few years time.

Re: Engine breather - what's best?
In my Dyane the last owner put in a mil carton underneath the breather pipe and fills up pretty quickly.
Putting in one of these medications to the breather - would it stop this leakage ?

Re: Engine breather - what's best?
Ordered option 3, along with a gasket set and some valve stem seals, to go with the piston rings I bought a couple of months back. All set for engine rebuild in the coming weeks!
