 Feasible seating plan ?
Not one for the purists ! Always liked the hammock seats. How different are the frames inside the latter seats from the originals? Has anyone tried a 'conversion' back to the old style using the newer (80's) hardware? Recently bought an industrial sewing machine (like you do) and thought I might have a go at some radical redesign as the seats are so knackered anyway. Cheers

There should be no problems fitting hammock style to late frames. I think the frames are much the same.

From what I've been told by people who know, 1950's seat covers won't fit 1970's/80's seat frames without a lot of alteration. Shame, because I like the style of the 50's covers.

 Re: Feasible seating plan ?
no problem at least for the models with front benches. For the seperate seats you will have to make something your self. Only problem the new old style seats available are of very minimum quality. They used the wrong material as base. It stretches and therefore it can hook it's self out of the frame. So as you are making your own. Make the base and back of tough material with the wires to hook on. Good luck. p.s. It is more comfortable, i have it in my 1983 2cv some 15 years.

 Re: Feasible seating plan ?
Thanks for the input. I'll strip down the existing seats and tidy up the frames then set about trying to make something.

Matt's Roofs, Chichester, West Sussex, does do them but it's not the same as the original hammocks as the frame is different. But perfectly possible! Look fwd to seeing the finished result.

Leaking garage roof now taking priority - electrics fused and a lot of soaked 'Treasures' (tat that might be useful one day). Corrugated asbestos/cement finally given up the fight against 20 years of Ivy, brambles etc. Funny how, as soon as you get enthused about a new project something else much boring comes along to spoil the fun !
