didn't weight it yet, the very naked BMW engine feels like a fully loaded 2cv engine.. I guess the totalweight will be 20kg more then a standard 2cv engine.... exhaust, carbs/throttlebody
alternator, oilcoolers, plumbing,flywheel, adaptor, spacer oil etc. skidplates under the chassis (engines pops out about 4cm under the chassis
But I think that is doable....

It weights much much less then a GS(a) engine so.. (I think if you do circuit racing never use a GS(a)... For quartermile or something like that GS(a) works, but it is outdated now we have Beamers..... A Beamer gives you 100hp out of the box..... a GSA only with lots of very pricy tuning..



However it isn't Citroen anymore .... I still like the Turbo injection way of a hybride 2cv/visa bigbore engine....

But with some internet research you find a 90+hp beamer engine for around 500 euro (mine was 300 for 100hp) a decent big bore set will cost almost the same, with a turbo you will reach 75hp max for a short moment.....

ps, I think a Beamer with twin turbo or compressor can easily do 150 hp..... for me that is the way to go..... if the gearbox will hold that...

gearboxes are strong they equipped the 2,5 ton Africar six wheelers. But i don't know if they can resist a rapid force being applied.

Thanks Fer, I like the africar project, but the execution sucks, money down the wrong pockets, insted of succecing the project... The man behind the project has a camping in France nowadays, 1 or 2 cars are over there... theres a topic somewhere ont this forum about it...

AZL, I don't know if you've read the book, but they had constant problems with the 602 gearboxes used in Africars.

p.116 "the first gearbox rebuild, at Fort Gardel"
p.140 "Another gearbox rebuild somewhere to the north east of Lake Chad"
etc...

Tony Howarth wasn't very forthcoming about which engines were used, but the mention of 65 bhp suggests they were GSA 1300cc lumps
