Post Huit Chevaux
Taken from Bring a Trailer:

This 1968 Citroen 2CV is a twin-engined four-wheel drive rally car that was built in France. Two 1300cc 4-cylinder engines sourced from Citroen GS’ are mounted in the car for a total of eight cylinders and are mated to synchronized transmissions; the seller mentions that both engines turn but haven’t been started. Believed to have been imported to Canada over 20 years ago, the car has been in storage for 16 years. Find it here on Kijiji in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for $5,000.

Despite little information on the car’s racing history, the seller provides photos of the 2CV wearing three different racing liveries with the same number plate, which is not currently present on the car. Judging by the quality of those pictures, we’d guess the car was last raced in the late ’70s-early to mid ’80s. Of all the car’s variations shown, we’d have to agree with the seller that the red and black paint is the most fitting for the 2CV. An additional set of three-lug wheels like those in the above photo are included but while the old tires hold air both sets would certainly need to be replaced. Also note the side exit exhausts facing opposite each other-tres chouette!

Claimed to have originally been owned and built by racer Jack Hannon, the seller believes the two GS-sourced flat-fours produce approximately 260hp together. Both engines are said to turn freely though the seller has avoided trying to start them to avoid damage but says they would start after minor sorting. Information on the transmissions is limited to the fact that they work in tandem, but no specifics are given.

The interior shot shows the linkage connecting the front and rear transmissions in place of a driveline, though not much else can be seen besides seemingly solid floors and the basic gauges. The car uses separate fuel tanks for each engine, and the seller estimates a total capacity of 40 gallons.

While we have seen other twin-engine and 4×4 2CVs, we’ve never seen one like this and it’s unlikely we’ll see another. At that price, if this thing could be made to run, we’d call it a win.

Looks like it has been sectioned through the body/doors (à la Dagonet), vent flap removed and bonnet re attached under window (so bonnet hinge is actually at original height from chassis)???

Love the exhaust pipes!

A bit optimistic with that estimated total of 260HP?

Yeah, the owner doesn't know much about the vehicle, he "thinks" the engines are air cooled. Gs put out about 60hp right, assuming none of the horses left the stables after 40 years, that would give it 120hp, so they double, doubled it or square rootedtheshitoutofit.

Think this was in a (UK) Car and Car Conversions magazine many moons ago. Do like the wheels.
