Post 123 vs visa ignition
I'm getting a bit disappointed with the Motorola/Thomson visa ignition (V06/644) which is running on my 2cv.
I've got starting problems after driving a few or many kms. The classical problems associated with this have already been checked, I guess...
Some guys say they've changed to 123 ignition with better results.
I'm a bit skeptic about this change, although I know this ignition (I used it on a 602 engine and I liked it), I think the original Visa ignition should work better on a 652 engine.

Post Re: 123 vs visa ignition
I had both with my Visa engine - original ignition broke lots of times - new black box, new sensors etc (when I say new - I mean second hand ) Got totally fed up as broke down and was late for picking daughter up from school... Bought 123 ignition and worked fine - only problem with it is the piece that fits into the end of the camshaft. The expanding bolt fitment is not the best thing. I drill an extra 2 holes oposite each other so you could put an allan key on the hole and lock it in position when you tighten the central nut. Otherwise the thing trys to rotate when tightening. Also the visa engine does not have a lip to hold the 123 in a perfect position (central to the camshft) so make sure it is correct otherwise the rotating piece will catch the little bolts on the back of the 123 ignition. Much better to put on a 1 - 2 spark

Post Re: 123 vs visa ignition
I know that 123 ignition is great 'cause I used it on a 602 engine years ago.
However I thought that with a 652 engine the original electronic ignition (Thomson or Motorola) was going to work OK.
My question is, is there a way to test the captors and the black box individually? :?:
I'm afraid the electronic components of the box or three wire captors may be worn out and they just work when they feel like it. If that is the case, what can we do?

Theoreticly you can check the captors. You need to feed them with 12 volt and without pickup they should give around 7 volt at the wire going to the blackbox. If the captor is above the pickup it should give
around 3 volt.........

The blackbox is difficult to test. They work or not.....

In practice I would buy a 1-2-Spark.....

Running a 652cc Visa engine with 123 Evo. Agree about the problem of the adapter turning as you tighten it. I glued mine in and can turn the engine over on the cam nut so it isn't going to move only problem I've had was a Harley coil fail. Agree centralising 123 isn't easy I needed a spacer between engine and 123. Conclusion for me, its in a an AZU250. with Dyane box drives entirely differently more relaxed, gearing needs to be higher. will sit at 75mph not loaded up not bad for a van. I still have my adapter if you want to buy it as Daras Rich and I, mainly Daras, got an adapter including provision for points cam made.
Next mod to try is SU carb HS2 GG needle yellow spring.

I couldn't find anything on the internet about this 1-2 spark.
Only a youtube video illustrating how it works outside the car...
Do you have a link to get to the manufacturer?
Thanks.

As a matter of fact I am the designer/manufacturer of this ignition system

I spend almost 3 years now to make an almost perfect electronic ignition for the 2cv.
The ignition has its own topic on this very forum...

If you like; you can read it, at the moment there are 69 pages.....

I'll try to read these 69 (magic number.. ) pages this weekend. Then I'll leave some feedback here.
Thank you.
