harley, it´ll be for sale as soon as its done. it´d be great to keep it in the family. I´ll need to make room as I´ve just swapped the cortina for a fintail mercedes and I´ve got a 54 chrysler newyorker on the way over..so I´ll need space.
my theory these days is that I enjoy the restoration more than the "having of them" so I like to keep the projects moving. sidney sold to a pinstriper in barcelona also. he loves it and I love that other people can get enjoyment from them.

I´ve been working on the brown side today. the rear of the door skin had to be cut out and flattened as it had commited suicide and buckled badly. so the panel was hammered flat, and replaced along with a support sheet behind. then the welds were ground and camolflaged with fake rust and patina.
also the right wing repaired and reinforced with 8mm bar, tears patched and dints further flattened. it looks loads healthier now and stronger, and the leftover effects where it has been beaten out look great (in my opinion)

heres a bit of an update, the rear right side wall structure has been redone and reinforced in steel tube with angle on top, also painted blue and aged to match the sign writing. I now need to do the other side but have no tube left. so started attacking the front chassis mambers which are pretty shot, whoever designed open tubiular chasis members which no drainage hole is an idiot, they were full of silt and damp. so that´ll be done tomorrow or something, then the engine and gearbox cleaned down as I´ve never seen anything so cruddy and it makes dismantling difficult as you can´t actually see how its bolted together!

ok so engine bay cleaned up, bulk head repaired around the battery with a new panel, both wings sorted in and out, stainless floor, mostly done awaiting laser cut beautifiers for around the steering column and the middle joint that i had to put in.
still no starter motor as today is "reyes" the official spanish christmas when the kings arrive with the presents for the kids

quick question !!!. if I spin the engine with the fan bolt and a drill but without battery or starter motor, should the spark plugs spark??. or does it need the battery in to make the circuit connected ??
if an engine can be cranked and started with a dead battery I wonder what the limits are with itI assume I need to connect something across the terminals??

No spark. You need battery.

And if the battery is low, the engine can't cope and eventually dies. Like mine did on the Col d'Aspin. Low revs and it stalls and then your buggered.

I will find out where I ordered my 6 volt battery from. Was cheap and was here the next day.
