Put mine in the White Dove Collector’s Transport Show near Bordon in Hants on Sunday. I can recommend this very well attended and organised friendly show with loads of interesting stuff including a nice Traction. Good selection of bikes too with organised ride out.

Having breakfast at Tebay services and leaving shortly to continue the 450 mile drive to Aberdeen to catch the overnight ferry to Shetland later. 2CV is doing well, travelled 180 miles in less than 3hrs. Bike is hanging off the back.

Yep, a very good trip to Aberdeen and I'm now onboard the ferry and waiting to leave. Stopped in Stonehaven earlier and spotted a Ville Van by the harbour as I was driving down the hill. Also saw a white Special heading for the harbour as I was leaving. The 'van' belongs to a German chap who has lived locally for the past twenty years.

Post Re: What did you do with your A Series today?
I decided to reattach the exhaust which has been gradually falling off for three weeks. And it's pretty disheartening news. I'm actually going to have to buy a new crossbox. That's not strictly true, perhaps better to say I can't be bothered to fix it, because probably, on reflection, and with much consideration, not worth repairing. The flange (lol) between the crossbox and swan neck, which my boss referred to several times as "the sort of 'belled' end" (lol) is now only 1/4 there and there's bollock all left to attach the clamp to. The previously rounded underside of the crossbox has several large gashes (lol) which are so fatigued I doubt any welded repair would last very long. I could save it, it's only metal after all, and its only going to take half an hour or so, but, probably for the first time in my life, I've decided to say 'fuck it' and give up in favour of needlessly and wastefully just buying a new one. I'm not a wealthy man, and I'm not in favour of throwing serious money at cars like this, but just this once, maybe though laziness, maybe through my advancing years or maybe through a desire to waste £40 replacing something that still has plenty of life left in it, I'm going to spend the cash and treat myself to a brand new crossbox.

As for all the other shit that's fallen off/worn out/broken/not working, well, when I have another lapse into lazy mans modern throwaway motoring I'll think about doing that too. (And when I've thought about it I'll spend the money on fags and wine anyway)

Actually, come to think of it, I'd rather drink the £40 and spend half an hour fixing the crossbox.

So that'll keep the brewers in work, but the chap who makes the crossbox might be let go as the americans say. :)

Drove the one and a quarter hours to the Pompey Puddleducks monthly meeting, roof open there and back, despite a slight drizzle. Great fun. A good turn out this month, too.
