I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that someone loves that car very much, but even viewed objectively the proportions on that are all to shit. It looks like it should be driven everywhere in reverse.

I fail to see what someones achieved there

Probably the same boot space, but 2 less seats, and a big bill

Hate that a lot

Assuming that the owner is sat at home crying into his beer, wondering why he fucked up a perfectly good 2CV, then he's probably achieved very little.

However I doubt very much that that's the case, I expect he does love it very much and that owning it makes him happy, and that's what he's achieved. He's found something that makes him happy and he's enjoying it, exactly what we should all be doing with our lives.

This forum has become far too judgemental recently, you're as bad as the rivet counters or the VW scenesters, I would like to think that 2CVers are above that, that we live and let live, and share a bit of the old Joie de vivre. I've personally no desire to own that coupe thing, but I like it, I like that fact that it exists and that it brings joy to the life of a fellow human being.

I expect in all likelihood that an otherwise good 2CV shell was rotten at the backend, so to save a car - at a time when no repair panels were available, a fibre glass hoffman body was stuck on. I don't like it either, but as Joolz said - it makes someone happy.

Post Re: Atrocity exhibition
This thread was based around the idea of having a chuckle at 2CVs that have had their essence trashed by well-meaning modifications... turning them from being a beautifully designed, cute, practical runaround into something that is neither cute nor practical - something that pisses on the entire ethos of the 2CV.

To my mind most of the pickup modifications don't fall into this category.

Doing cosmetic work on cars is particularly fraught with difficulty and aesthetic danger. It takes patience, imagination and skill. Even commercial players get it wrong (Lomax, and particularly the cabriolet mods etc). The Dagonet, on the other hand, was one of the few modifications that really got it right.

Anyone got any pics of mods that DO work?

Oh, and for the record, of the kit cars I don't think this one is too bad: Image
... although the exposed engine makes it look like one of these:

In fact, the more I look at it the worse it gets. With that silly air filter it looks like it's even wearing a fez. Here I go again!
