I really should pay attention to this thread, as my acad doesn't just judder - it bangs, shakes, groans and wobbles its way around even the slightest of curves in the road. Although, to be fair i know i need to do my kingpins, wheel bearings, refurb the steering rack, work out why my steering wheel has VERTICAL as well as rotational play, refurb the suspension cans and mounts as the cans are utterly locked solid in their mounts, get my oval rear drums machined.......

I'm not entirely sure how my van stays attached to the road, to be honest.

"cans are utterly locked solid in their mounts" If they are anything like The Sheds suspension cans, they are different from cars in that they do not float but are fixed by rigid cones rather than the rubber donut type of arrangement........

Having never quite found the time to scrape off the thick, almost concrete-like covering of dried mud, dirt and other unspeakableness that covers the entire underside of my van, I always assumed that the cans were the same as cars. I now stand corrected!

So would that mean that the cans INTENTIONALLY won't be able to rotate by hand as the car ones do when you're oiling them up?

Check the track rod/ball joint endy thingies.....if it still looks round you might :?: get away with tightening it up a little,if theres any sign what-so-ever of it being oval then replace them ......'cos an "oval shaped/rugby ball" end wont function properly and you could snap the arm.

When you compare yours track rod/ball joints, with the new ones you 'll be astonished.
Change them and get over with it .

Since all Acadianes have FIXED canisters, that would indeed be logical...
